Too Little Time, Too Much to Do

As the calendar updated to 2013 many people reviewed their web content and felt it time for some changes, additions, deletions. It's wise to review site content at least every few months and refresh it as needed.

Two new websites recently rolled out:
Brown's Outdoor Furniture and Melina White's eye-catching hooked rugs have new one-page websites (yet both do have short sub-pages with additional content), each with a sleek auto-scrolling navigation bar that takes users quickly to the content further down the page.

In my spare time (ha ha) I've been learning how to build sites using responsive web design (RWD) that helps web content to display well on all screens—from tiny mobile devices to wide screens.

Two More New Sites Published

Karyn Neubauer, artistNewbury, Vermont artist, Karyn Neubauer, was awarded a grant from the Vermont Arts Council for website development (congratulations, Karyn!). I recently launched her new site. In order to assure fast-loading, each of her images exists on its own web page with navigation icons to move seamlessly from page to page.

Galusha HIll FarmAND, Galusha Hill Farm is up and rolling and busily reaping this year's harvest. John Harkins asked for a WordPress site that he could manage himself and also 'large, clickable boxes' ... so happy to meet his requests.

Two New Websites Published

Recently, two new sites for local businesses have been published. The first is for Stock Footage which has brought together many talented individuals for production of their indie film, BRUJO THE MOVIE, being shot in our scenic Vermont hills. Next is a small site for UnderCover Tents, a busy local business that serves our surrounding rural community. Get links to both sites here.

Need Help Making Sense of Your Google Analytics?

I just came across this helpful video, published by Google, on how to understand the visitor statistics for your website. It features screen shots of the old version of Analytics, but the info is more or less the same. (FYI: I install Analytics free of charge on all websites.)

Two New Websites Published

I've been very pleased to build a new site for Boston-based fiber artist, Georgette Benisty. Photos of her work capture amazing detail and it's been a joy to work with her on this project. Also, I've just launched a new site for Vermont artist, Robert Chapla, whose paintings incorporate bold color and pattern. Get links to both sites here.

New Website + Graphic Design for Print

It's been a very busy two months with quite a few print jobs: brochures for Catamount Solar, LLC (solar installer), UnderCover Tents (tent rental company), and numerous magazine and newspaper ads for existing clients. Also, this seems to be the season for everyone getting their web content updated.

MotherCare Services' old website was very slow to download, lacked good SEO and, as a result, the owner was losing business. The newly designed site is fast and is optimized for search engine placement to reach the Boston Area market.

AMCK is currently working on four new websites for a Vermont author, Vermont painter, a printmaker in New Jersey and a Boston-based fiber artist.

Latest Website Launched

It's customary to see therapists' websites that are created by web design mills using stock templates. The result is typically a site that is not very inviting or personal. Dorie Porcelli has a growing psychotherapy practice and I was very pleased to design/develop a small, custom site for her using her preferences for imagery and style. This new site is bound to capture her intended audience and she will be able to track visitors with Google Analytics—standard and free on sites I develop.

Include Videos on Your Website

Recently, I set up a YouTube channel for posting client videos and have embedded the videos on their websites as well. Running videos on your website is a superb tool for grabbing the attention of your target audience—keep this in mind if you already have a website or are planning for one. Here is a website put together several months ago with a new video: www.futurehearingnow.com
